Michael Ertl

I work as a senior editor for tagesschau.de, the news site for Germany’s main public service broadcaster ARD, covering domestic and foreign news, the economy and much more.

AI is another major part of my work – both in terms of coverage and implementing AI tools in the newsroom that live up to the trust placed in public service broadcasting.

Before that, I produced radio, TV and online news for the BBC. I was based in London, Brussels and Washington DC and covered stories from around the world, including the war in Ukraine, Venezuela’s political and economic crises, Fidel Castro’s funeral and elections in the US, Turkey, Brazil, Germany and of course the UK.

Read or listen to some of my work.
